12 months

Well it's been awhile since my last post. Things have been crazy in our house between stomach bugs, traveling, birthday party and a wedding. Excited to be home for awhile and hopefully enjoying nice weather.

So Ellyson has turned the BIG 1! We had a great birthday celebration (another post on that coming soon..I  promise). I can't believe my baby is already 1. She has been growing and really coming into her own personality - little diva and all!

Elly's Stats & Accomplishments
Weight:
20 pounds, 1 ounce
Length:
29.8 inches
 11 month recap
Weight: 19 pounds, 5ounces
Length: 28.5 inches
Birth weight: 6 pounds, 13 ounces and 20 inches.

Attributes:  Ellyson's hair is getting so long and is starting to have a little wave to it. It's still a dirty blonde color but in the sunlight or if she wears certain colors, you can really see the red tone of her hair. I'm still hoping that she will end up with an Auburn color. Here's hoping. Ellyson's eyes are still a gorgeous blue color!. She still only has 2 teeth, bottom front. I am hoping that we get a few more at some point ;-). I really wanted to get Elly's ears pierced but she has such tiny ears and their doesn't seem to be enough "meat" to be able to pierce. Hoping that we can pierce them one day.

Milestones: Elly is walking like crazy. She decided one day that she was ready and hasn't looked back. She definitely knows that she is doing and when she isn't supposed to be doing something. It's funny to watch when you tell her to stop something or no, she looks at you and does it again. Elly is saying Ma Ma, Da Da, and babbles a few other words. Aaron and I have learned that we cannot force anything on little miss priss. She does what she wants at her own speed. Elly is also doing well stacking her blocks, and tries to put her puzzle pieces where they go. She even tries to put her lid on her cup or bottle. She has gotten extreme good at opening and closing doors and drawers......a few times with her fingers still there. Elly is also thinks she is muscle woman and picks up her lion push toy and carries over the house. We officially switched her to a big girl car seat and she had her first long trip facing forward! She seems to really like the new seat but we are going to have to get her something for her little neck when we take trips......she falls asleep and her head droops down. Elly has become obsessed with her stuffed monkey, Curious George. She found it one day in her toy basket and now she pretty much carries it around the house. It's so cute as the monkey is about 1/3-1/2 her size.
Loving her monkey, George

Clothes:  Well Elly wears pretty much everything! She can still wear 3 month dresses to 12/18 month pants. I really just depends on what the outfit is. She definitely needs 12 + months in her onesie pajamas. That long torso is going to get us. She will definitely be a two piece bathing suit kind of girl. Elly is wearing size 2 shoes and we tend to do better with the shoes that have a velcro strap to make them tighter. Her foot is so narrow that most of the shoes that have fixed straps are so wide. She is still in number 3 diapers and I think that we have a bit longer in these diapers.

Eating: Well I am not sure what to say about this one. She is definitely a strong willed child and when she doesn't want something she won't eat it. Ellyson is a BIG snack food lover. I think if all her meals could just be yogurt puffies and cheese puffs, she would be in heaven. Because Elly doesn't have a lot of teeth, we are still limited to what she can eat. She does Cheerios in the morning along with some baby food if she wants it. We have tried biscuits, oatmeal, grits, and eggs but it just depends on her mood if she wants any of this. Typically if she gets it at home, she doesn't want it. She also gets 4 ounces of milk if she wants it. She gets 2 snacks a day of either yogurt, yogurt puffs, Cheerios, cereal bar, apple slice or cheese puffs. Elly is not a face of Goldfish...she will mush it in her mouth then spit it out. For dinner she is still doing baby food as well but we keep trying big people food as well. Their really isn't one that we have found that she likes. She isn't a fan of mashed potatoes, green beans or pasta yet. She does like rice but again if she gets it at home, no longer interested. We have begun to transition her to whole milk and she has done well so far. She has also decided she likes her sippy cup and is doing well with with her water and juice.

Sleep schedule: For the most part we have stayed consistent here with one long nap 1.5-2.5 hours and maybe one smaller nap, 30-45 minutes. If we are driving, she usually falls asleep for a little bit and the days she goes to Mother's Day Out she will take closer to the 2-2.5 hour nap. Elly is typically in bed around 7:30pm after her nap. We still aren't sleeping though the nigh 100% of the time but at least 4 nights a week she will sleep from 7:30 pm to 6:00/7:00am. The other nights she will wake up crying in the middle of the night anywhere from 1 to 6 times. Just depends and doesn't seem to be anything that triggers it. Here's hoping that as she continues to get older, she will realize that when she takes a nap/sleeps better, she can play harder.

It's been so much fun watching this little girl grow up. Lots more post to come about her first birthday celebration and getting to be a flower girl in Aunt Angela and Uncle Eric's wedding. March has been lots of fun and we are looking forward to the weather getting warmer and nicer so Elly can play outside more! (and sport her sunglasses and yellow polka dot bikini)!
